Cara is an audio engineer and accomplished musician. She plays the piano and is a snare drummer with the KC pipe band. In addition to a career as a competitive dancer, she is also qualified Scottish dance teacher.
Haley works as an interior architect at Hollis + Miller Architects in Kansas City, MO. She has competed in Scotland, Canada and in her "free time," she loves to hang out with her cat, Charlie.
Sarah is a visual art teacher at Blue Valley Southwest High School. She has competed internationally in Scotland and Canada, qualified for the US national highland dance championships (USIR) 10 times, and is a highly qualified Scottish dance teacher. Sarah loves Photography, playing the snare drum with the KC pipes and drums, and hanging out with her cat, Eloise.
Caroline is and admissions officer at Rockhurst University and is getting her Master's degree in higher education administration. She was a "Shot of Scotch" dancer in NYC for several years before joining us back home in KC. She has competed internationally in Scotland and Canada, is qualified as a Scottish dance teacher, and loves baking...especially cookies!
Emily is a marketing coordinator at Bloomsbury Publishing. She has been dancing since age 4 and competed in Scotland twice. Her favorite food is Ice Cream even though she's lactose intolerant!
Meet the Dancers
Heartland Highland was founded in 2015 in Kansas City. We are a Highland dance group of highly accomplished, premier (professional) Scottish highland dancers. We have all competed internationally in Scotland, Canada and the United States. Since forming Heartland Highland, our goal of maintaining our social connections with fellow dancers, while preserving the art form of Scottish Highland dance, keeps us energized to share our cultural heritage with Kansas City and the heartland. We love to work with other musicians and artists in the Scottish tradition and aim to infuse our choreographies with traditional Scottish elements of highland dance in a fun and innovative way.
